Research institutions that violate this provision face only monetary penalties not to exceed $2,500. |
| WA - Research animals - Chapter 69.05 RCW Cruelty Free Cosmetics Act | This act prohibits manufacturers in the state of Washington from selling or offering for sale any cosmetic developed or manufactured using animal testing. The Act includes exceptions for certain testing required by foreign, federal, or state regulators; testing related to non-cosmetic uses; products or ingredients regulated under specified federal drug/device provisions; and pre-2025 animal testing, so long as no new prohibited testing occurs. Violations are civil violations punishable by fines of up to $5,000 per violation. |
