The Animal and Natural Resource Law Review is one of just three law review journals nationally that is devoted to animal law topics. However, ANRLR stands out for its specialized focus on animal and natural resource law. Originally named the Journal of Animal Law, ANRLR was born out of a generous donation from the Animal Legal Defense Fund—a national animal rights organization. The donation created the Journal under the direction of Professor David Favre, an internationally renowned figure in animal law. ANRLR continues to be a premier resource for animal law and natural resource law scholars around the world.
I. Article Submission Guidelines
Each summer, the Animal and Natural Resource Law Review begins accepting article submissions for its annual volume, which is published the following spring. Article submissions remain open until the volume is complete, so early submission is encouraged. The Animal and Natural Resource Law Review carefully considers all manuscripts that it receives.
Electronic submissions can be sent to the Editor-in-Chief at msuanrlr@gmail.com. Articles may also be submitted through the Scholastica article management system. The Editorial Board requests that authors use footnotes, with citations that closely conform to the latest edition of The Bluebook: A Uniform System of Citation.
Please include your name, contact information, and curriculum vitae with your submission.
II. Journal Membership
ANRLR membership consists of students from the Michigan State University College of Law who have completed their first year of law school.
Prospective members should apply during the summer semester following their first year of law school by participating in the All-Journal Write-On Competition for the College of Law. This competition requires students to submit a case note or appellate brief, and to complete a Bluebook exam. ANRLR may elect to hold a Fall Write-On Competition if additional Associate Editors are needed.
Students who join ANRLR during their second year of law school are eligible to become members of the Editorial Board for the upcoming school year. The current Editorial Board will conduct the application and interview process for the incoming Editorial Board during the spring semester.
III. Subscription Information
The Animal and Natural Resource Law Review is published annually. Subscription prices for the Journal are $27 per volume. Print copies of back volumes are available. For electronic copies, see Index.
