Summary:   This Iowa statute provides that all game birds or ungulates (hoofed mammals) shipped or transported into Iowa shall be free from any infectious, contagious, or communicable disease, or originate from a guaranteed area.  Further, all ungulates shipped or transported into Iowa for hunting preserve purposes shall be accompanied by an approved Certificate of Veterinary Inspection.


Statute in Full:

No game birds or ungulates shipped or transported into Iowa shall be affected with, or recently exposed to, any infectious, contagious, or communicable disease, or originate from a guaranteed area. All game birds and their hatching eggs shipped or transported into Iowa shall have proof of origination from flocks or hatcheries that have a pullorum-typhoid clean rating given by the official state agency of the National Poultry Improvement Plan or its equivalent and shall be in accordance with the United States Department of Agriculture and the Iowa department of agriculture and land stewardship. All ungulates shipped or transported into Iowa for hunting preserve purposes shall be accompanied by an approved Certificate of Veterinary Inspection. Ungulates that are livestock are subject to regulations administered by the Iowa department of agriculture and land stewardship. All veterinary inspection certificates shall be retained as a part of licensee's permanent records.

These rules are intended to implement Iowa Code chapter 484B.
