Summary:   This is the overarching general anti-cruelty law for the UK, which uses suffering as a key concept.


Statute in Full:

In 2006, the United Kingdom, which has a long history of animal welfare legislation, adopted a new Animal Welfare Act. (.pdf file 249 Kb). This law replaces the 1911 law , but still uses the key concept of “unnecessary suffering."
